#TeamHaringey retains ParaGames crown to maintain highly impressive record at the London Youth Games

#TeamHaringey has excelled at the London Youth Games again, with the borough’s children and young people winning the Jubilee Trophy for the overall title and retaining the ParaGames crown too.

Our borough has enjoyed an incredible season, with gold medals in boys’ cricket, inclusive basketball and tennis. We also finished first in boys’ & girls’ para athletics and boys’ & girls’ para football, as well as claiming the runners-up spot with silver medals in the U13 girls’ football and indoor rowing.

A string of outstanding and strong results then ensured #TeamHaringey (1024 points) dethroned reigning champions Bromley (1022 points) by just two points, with Havering (973 points) rounding off the podium placings in third. Last year’s runners-up Richmond upon Thames (946 points) and our neighbours Hackney (924 points) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

This result means Haringey haven’t finished outside of the top three in any of the last six years of active competition (First: 2022, 2023 & 2026, Second: 2019 & 2024, Third: 2025).

Our formidable form in youth-level sport is further evidenced by our young athletes with disabilities/SEND reclaiming the ParaGames title having won the competition for the first time ever only last year.

Haringey Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure, Cllr Erin Wolson, said:

These fantastic Jubilee Trophy and Para Games victories wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of so many people. Congratulations and thank you to the Haringey Sports Development Trust, parents and carers, teachers, volunteers and, of course, the young athletes themselves.

It’s great to see young athletes with disabilities/SEND retain the Para Trophy. Their achievement is a testament to their talent, hard work and determination, and to everyone who has supported them along the way. We remain committed to making sport more accessible and inclusive so that people of all ages and abilities across Haringey have the opportunity to take part.

Winning the Jubilee Trophy again this year continues an outstanding run, with Haringey finishing on the podium in each of the last six competitions.

This is a significant achievement, especially given Haringey competes against all the other London boroughs every year.

The Haringey Sports Development Trust’s Craig Gravis commented:

With their determination and passion and the support they receive from their families, schools, coaches and the community, this success will inspire the next generation of Haringey athletes to dream big and believe they can achieve.
